Welcome at the Université de Strasbourg

Who is running the EUCOR Plant Science at the Université de Strasbourg

The Institut de Biologie Moleculaire des Plantes (IBMP) is a part of the national research organisation CNRS (Centre National de Recherche Scientifique) with branch institutions all over France. The CNRS-IBMP is located in Strasbourg and linked with the Université des Strasbourg. It hosts 16 groupes covering different aspects of plant sciences and all of these groups welcome Master students from the EUCOR Plant Science. Contact person is Prof. Dr. Anne Catherine Schmit.  The following groups participate (in alphabetical order):

  • Patrick Achard. Gibberellins and adaptation to environment. more...
  • Todd Blevins. Mechanisms of small RNA biogenesis and action. more...
  • Anne-Marie Duchene, Laurence Marechal-Drouard. RNA Metabolism and trafficking in plant cells. more...

What we offer for EUCOR Plant Science students

Our Master curriculum is so far taught in French on a weekly base. In their first semester, all students pass through one common module (lecture and practical work) called "Integrated Development of Plants in their Environments" (140 h, 12 ECTS) followed by three possible routes of specialisation:

  • Plant Molecular Biology and Biotechnology (E. Herzog)
  • Plant-Environment and Ecologic Engineering (I. Combroux)
  • Plant Bioactive Molecules and their Valorization (R. Ménard)

Depending on the specialisation, a second specialising module (32 h, 3 ECTS) is chosen:

  • Plant Genome (Plant Molecular Biology and Biotechnology)
  • Introduction to Functional Ecology (Plant-Environment and Ecologic Engineering)
  • Medicinal resources or Separative Sciences, Extraction and Purification (Plant Bioactive Molecules and their Valorization)

During the following three semesters, the students go through research projects. These so called Végé-LABs (L. Gondet) depend on the chosen route of specialisation.

Overview of the Plant Master at Université of Strasbourg can be found here.

For EUCOR Plant Science students, the following formats will be opened

  • Individual research modules: these comprise theory (lectures) and practical work and can be arranged for a duration of 8 to 15 weeks, depending on the needs of the incoming student.
  • Summer school: this new format will be developed particularly for EUCOR students and is planned for the time window May-July. Details will become available early 2019.
